This test includes DNA collection from the child, the alleged father, and the biological mother. Including the mother improves accuracy and is often preferred or required for legal use.

Turnaround Time
Results are typically available within 1 to 2 business days after all samples are received. One-day express service is available for an additional fee.

Legal (Chain of Custody) Testing
To ensure results are admissible in court, these requirements must be met:
• A neutral third party collects the samples
• Participants provide government-issued ID and/or photos at the time of collection
• A standard testing kit and consent form must be used and completed during the appointment
• Guardianship must be verified for any tested minor
• The collection kit must remain in professional custody at all times.

Non-Legal (At-Home) Testing
For personal use, samples can be collected at home by the individuals being tested. Results are still accurate but cannot be used for legal purposes since identities are not verified.

Why Include the Mother
When the mother participates, her DNA can be excluded from the child’s, making it easier to match the remaining DNA to the biological father. Trio testing produces stronger results, with an average Combined Paternity Index (CPI) of 1,000,000 compared to 10,000 in tests without the mother. Courts may prefer or require her inclusion for legal cases.
