Full Product Description

Our Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test (NIPP) allows expecting mothers to establish paternity as early as the 7th week of pregnancy—safely, accurately, and without risk to the baby. Unlike invasive procedures that require ultrasounds or amniocentesis, this test only requires a simple blood draw from the mother and a cheek swab from the alleged father. Using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), the lab analyzes 2,688 SNP markers to provide highly accurate results.

How It Works

• Fetal DNA floats freely in the mother’s bloodstream during pregnancy

• A DNA profile of the fetus is created by separating fetal DNA from maternal DNA

• The fetal profile is compared against the alleged father’s DNA profile

• Results confirm or exclude paternity with accuracy and reliability

Chain-of-Custody Testing (For Legal Purposes)

Legally defensible results require strict chain-of-custody procedures:

• Samples collected by a neutral third party (clinic or laboratory)

• Positive ID verification (government-issued ID and/or photograph)

• Official DDC Prenatal Paternity Kit used (blood + buccal swab)

• Prenatal Identification & Consent Form (COC-4029) completed and signed

• Guardianship of minors verified at the time of signing

• Kits may not be handled by clients before or after collection

Non-Chain-of-Custody Testing (For Personal Knowledge)

For those who want results for peace of mind only:

• Blood and swab samples collected by a certified phlebotomist

• ID verification not required

• Results not valid for legal purposes

• Kit assigned a unique case number for tracking

Important Notes

• Two (2) full vials of mother’s blood are required—otherwise recollection may be necessary

• Samples must reach the lab within 7 days of collection (domestic courier required)

• Additional alleged fathers can be tested for an extra fee if included at the start

• Gender results available upon request (additional fee)

• Indeterminate results are rare but possible in cases such as incest, related fathers, or low fetal DNA levels

• Not available in cases involving:

  • Incest

  • Related alleged fathers (unless both are tested)

  • Twins or multiple fetuses

  • IVF, egg donor, or surrogate pregnancies
