When suspicions of infidelity arise, DNA testing can provide peace of mind. The DNA Detection Test: Infidelity is a laboratory-based analysis of personal items—such as undergarments or other objects—that may contain DNA.

This test can detect whether usable DNA is present on an item and whether it belongs to a male or female. Depending on the option selected, results will indicate whether DNA is available for comparison to a buccal swab reference sample.

What Needs to Be Tested

• Undergarment or other personal item (submitted in a paper bag—not plastic—to avoid mold damage)

• Buccal swab reference sample (optional for comparison testing, not included in detection test)

Turnaround Time

• Standard: 10 business days from receipt of samples

Non-Chain-of-Custody Test (Personal Knowledge Only)

• Samples are collected and submitted by the client

• Results are for personal knowledge only and are not valid for legal purposes

• Items tested will be cut and processed in the laboratory; they will not be returned in their original condition

Test Options

1. Standard DNA Detection

• Detects whether any DNA (male and/or female) is present

• Results show whether usable DNA is available for comparison to a reference sample (buccal swab)

• Does not include DNA profile comparison (see DNA Comparison Test for this service)

2. Y Chromosome (Male) DNA Detection

• Detects the presence of male DNA only

• Results show whether usable male DNA is available for comparison to a reference sample

• Cannot distinguish between male biological relatives (brothers, fathers, uncles, cousins, etc.), as Y-STR profiles are identical along the paternal line

• Does not include DNA profile comparison (see DNA Comparison Test)

Important Notes

• Personal items must be submitted in paper bags only to preserve DNA integrity.

• Items processed in the lab will not be returned in their original condition.

• This test provides detection only. To compare DNA against a known reference, a DNA Comparison Test is required.

• Results are for informational purposes only and cannot be used in court.
